The above services are provided through a collaborative process that involves identification of the local stakeholders, training needs assessment, beta testing, intervention development and applications, service delivery, assessment of student performance, ongoing evaluation of service provision and randomized cluster controlled trials of intervention efficacy.
Where appropriate, local trainers and faculty are identified and recruited to teach portions of the curriculum. In addition, in order to build capacity in identified regions, Train the Trainer programs can be developed that integrate the knowledge throughout the region, as the philosophy of ICDR is to allow for independent sustainability of all our programs.
Our ‘motto’ is “Those most impacted by the disaster or emergency should afforded an opportunity to play a central role in the recovery processes.” ICDR can develop and supply all teaching materials, including hand-outs, visual aids, teaching scenarios, and student assessment tools. Unlike many other organizations, ICDR selects relatively few clients at a time to work with, allowing for dedication to the clients objectives with few distractions. Each program is tailored to the client, as ICDR prefers not to provide “Off the Shelf” solutions.
